A Watermelon Martini with Cucumber Vodka is an extra refreshing summer cocktail. Fresh watermelon, vodka, and a dash of agave nectar blend into the perfect summer drink for sipping in the sunshine.
Get ready for the best happy hour martini to hit your summer. Even if it’s not summer, this Watermelon Martini will have you feeling those summer vibes. Find yourself that little patch of sunshine, and enjoy a light, slightly sweet, refreshing cocktail.
This is an easy cocktail to make, and you can use fresh or frozen watermelon. (If you're like me, you usually have some frozen fruit on hand for adding to smoothies.)
Ready to mix up a Watermelon Martini? It’s easier than you think.
Watermelon Martini Ingredients:
- Cucumber vodka: Square One is delicious, but Skinnygirl, Crop, and Effen also make cucumber varieties.
- Watermelon: I used fresh watermelon that I blended up.
- Agave nectar: Adds a little extra sweetness.
How to Prepare a Watermelon Martini:
- You'll need 2-3 cubes of watermelon, about two tablespoons. If you're using frozen, allow it to thaw, about fifteen minutes. Place the watermelon, 3 tablespoons of water, and ½ teaspoon agave nectar into a mini food processor, such as a Magic Bullet. Process until smooth. Strain if you’d like, but not absolutely necessary.
- Add the watermelon puree and cucumber vodka to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously until well chilled. Strain into a martini glass, and garnish with a cucumber wheel and watermelon slice, if desired.
Serving Suggestions:
- Add an optional garnish: A cucumber wheel, watermelon slice, or mint leaf are all excellent choices.
- You can also serve a Watermelon Martini on the rocks. Add a little seltzer water if you’d like a lower ABV cocktail.

Ingredient Substitutions:
- Cucumber vodka: Use regular vodka and blend up a few slices of cucumber with the watermelon.
- Agave nectar: Simple syrup will also work.
- Fresh watermelon: You can often find watermelon juice in the refrigerated juices section at your local market. You’ll need about 2 ½ ounces.
