What tastes like summer in a glass? This Mango Colada, of course. 😎 It’s rich and creamy and naturally sweet from the fresh fruit and coconut cream. 🍍
What I really love about this cocktail recipe is that it uses real ingredients instead of mixers with ingredients that I can’t pronounce. For me, the fresh fruit added the perfect amount of sweetness without needing any extra sweetener. Full fat coconut cream makes the Mango Colada ultra creamy and smooth.
Need a kid friendly version, or just feel like skipping the booze? Simply omit the rum, and you have an incredibly tasty and refreshing mocktail.
FAQs:
I’ve tried making it both ways, and honestly, I prefer the coconut cream. It just gets frothier and creamier in the blender. The coconut milk works, but I found I needed a little more ice to get the consistency that I like.
For this version, I opted for a combination of both since that’s what I had on hand. My mango was frozen, and the pineapple was fresh. However, you could easily substitute all frozen or all fresh fruit. If you use all frozen fruit, you will not need as much ice.
How to Prepare a Mango Colada:
- Preparation for this cocktail is pretty simple. Add the fruit, coconut cream, lime juice, and rum to the blender. Blend until smooth. Slowly add ice and blend until desired consistency is achieved. I used about ⅔ cup ice, but if you’re using frozen fruit, you will not need as much.
- For a mocktail version, simply omit the rum, and use a little less ice. Or, add in a little pineapple juice or water to take the place of the liquid from the rum.
- Pour into a glass, add a large straw, sip slowly, and imagine you’re on a tropical island. 🏝
Cocktail or Mocktail Serving Suggestions:
- Enjoy this as a traditional frozen cocktail sipped through a large straw.
- You could also freeze into adult popsicles for your next pool party. YUM!!
