A White Wine Sangria with Tropical Fruit is the perfect way to celebrate the weekend. It’s light and refreshing with just a bit of sweetness that’s tempered with some fresh squeezed lime juice. I like to add a bit of club soda or seltzer to mine just to lighten it up a bit, but that’s totally optional. This is a cocktail that’s perfect for happy hour or brunch.
It’s also a perfect cocktail for a small gathering. Simply mix up a pitcher of sangria the day before, then store it in the fridge overnight until you’re ready to drink it. Serve over ice, and top with club soda if desired.

FAQs
What varietal of wine should I use?
I used Pinot Grigio for this recipe because that is what my friends like. When I make a White Wine Sangria for myself, I prefer to use Sauvignon Blanc—that’s just the white wine I prefer. If you prefer a sweeter white, try using Gewürztraminer or Riesling. You could even use a Moscato or White Zinfandel.
This recipe calls for a tropical blend of mango, kiwi, and strawberry with some citrus to balance the sweetness. You really can use any fruit combination that you like. You might consider trying some of these: raspberries, blackberries, blue berries, grapes, pineapple, peaches, papaya, or dragonfruit.
If you’re not up for a full batch, simply add a few cubes of ice to a wine glass. Then, pour about half a glass of wine, add a half ounce of Grand Marnier and cut fruit. You can also top with a little club soda if you’d like a lighter version.
Many different liquors can be used to make a delicious sangria. You could use Cointreau or Triple Sec if you’d like to keep an orange profile. Peach Schnapps and Apricot Brandy are also common choices. If you want a super tropical flair, try using coconut rum.
While sangria can be safely stored in the refrigerator for several days, I wouldn’t store it for more than three days as the fruit will begin to break down
How to Prepare White Wine Sangria:
- Begin by prepping your fruit. Cut the tops off the strawberries, then slice into quarters or halves, depending on their size. Peel the kiwis, and slice into rounds. Peel and dice the mango. (See how to easily cut a mango.)
- Next, open the bottle of white wine, and pour into a large pitcher or a punch bowl. Add the Grand Marnier, and the juice of one lime. Give the sangria a stir. Add in the fresh fruit, and stir again.
- Refrigerate for at least two hours (even better overnight) before serving to chill the liquid and fruit. This also allows the fruit to absorb some of the wine. Yep, the fruit makes a delicious snack while you’re enjoying your sangria with no need of a separate plate of fruit 😉
Serving Suggestions:
- If you’d like a lighter version with a bit less alcohol, pour a half glass of sangria, then top off with club soda or seltzer.
- Add fresh mint leaves as a garnish. It looks pretty, plus adds a fresh aroma. Just make sure to smack the mint in your hand first to release oils and full aroma.
- Freeze the fruit to double as “ice cubes” in your sangria and avoid a watered down cocktail.

White Wine Sangria Notes:
- Personally, I love stemless wine glasses. Stems are just dangerous for this lady 😂 Yes, they look fancy, but stemmed glasses just break too easily for my liking.
- If you’re planning on adding club soda or seltzer to your sangria, wait to add it to individual glasses. You’ll lose a lot of the effervescence if you add it to the pitcher or punchbowl and it is stored overnight.
