This Irish White Russian swaps out the regular cream for Bailey’s Irish Cream creating an ultra creamy and delicious cocktail.
Some may say that there is no reason to mess with the ingredients in a classic cocktail such as a White Russian, but I just couldn’t help myself. Yes, I enjoy the classic, but using Bailey’s Irish Cream rather than plain cream takes this cocktail to a whole new level. The creamy, light cocoa flavor of Bailey’s mixes perfectly with Kahlua and vodka.
An Irish White Russian is an obvious choice for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, but it’s equally as good served during the winter holidays. Trust me, even though this decadent cocktail is served over ice, it will still warm you up.
FAQS:
Both cocktails are served in a rocks glass over ice, and both incorporate vodka and Kahlua. The difference is that a White Russian adds cream to the cocktail. The names are derived from the color of the drinks.
Kahlua is a coffee flavored liqueur. Don’t worry, it’s not bitter—it’s actually quite sweet. It’s a Mexican liqueur that is made from rum, sugar, and coffee.
Use whatever vodka you like. A mid range priced vodka is a good choice for this cocktail as you also have the flavors of Kahlua and Bailey's blending in. A high priced vodka is not necessary when it's not the star of the show.
HOW TO PREPARE AN IRISH WHITE RUSSIAN:
This is an easy cocktail to prepare.
- Simply fill a rocks glass with ice. Pour the vodka over the ice, then top with the Kahlua and Bailey’s.
- You can enjoy the drink layered, or give it a gentle stir. Alternatively, you can pour it in a shaker, give it a few shakes, and pour the cocktail back in the rocks glass for a frothy top.
